Management of Processes to keep Influenza A (H1N1)

Dear Parents / Guardians of Students in ACS (Barker Road), ACS (Primary) and Barker Road Methodist Church Kindergarten,

Management of Processes to keep Influenza A (H1N1) on Barker Road Campus
You would know that the Ministry of Health has raised the health alert from Yellow to Orange.  The next 2 levels are the Red and Black Alerts.  We are working closely with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health (MOH) regarding this situation.  The Campus Management Committee has put in place procedures to help prevent the spread of diseases amongst our staff, students and other stakeholders in the Campus.  These include guidelines on good personal hygiene practices, keeping our premises clean and temperature-taking.

Daily Temperature-Taking

In conjunction with Singapore’s efforts at delaying the spread of Influenza A (H1N1) to Singapore for as long as possible, there will be daily temperature-taking in our schools from 4 May 2009.

Those with a temperature exceeding 38 degrees Celsius will be asked to seek treatment immediately.  Recording of information of all Campus visitors, including the date and time of visit, recent travel history, personal particulars and contact number of visitors, will be strictly enforced with immediate effect. This is to facilitate contact tracing should the need arise.

We would like to seek your assistance to ensure that your child is well before he/she goes to school.  If he/she feels unwell, please seek medical attention for him/her and refrain from having your child attend school.  Do keep the school informed of the reasons for absence.

Do ensure that your child brings his/her personal Oral Digital Thermometer to school on each day that he/she reports to school.

Entrance to Campus

With immediate effect, there will be limited access to the Campus. Please drop off your child and do not attempt to enter the school campus.

Only parents/guardians with official business should come to the school.  As mentioned above, all Campus visitors (including parents/guardians) will have their temperature taken and complete a contact tracing form.  Entrance for Campus visitors will be limited to the Lift Entrance at the car-park.  All other points of entry at Gates B and C will be restricted only to students.  These gates will be locked from 7.45 am onwards and be reopened only for dismissal of students for 20 minutes after school dismissal of the respective schools.  Do take note that the access to the Campus via the overhead bridge will be locked.

In case of inclement weather, Gates B and C will be closed.  Access for students to the Campus will only be through the Transport Centre.

Social Responsibility

Should you or your child have travelled and just returned from any of the affected areas (please refer to the MOH website – http://www.moh.gov.sg), you are strongly advised to practise social responsibility by staying at home.

We would like to stress that these measures are taken for the protection of all stakeholders in the Campus, and also for the protection of your family.  As such, we seek your co-operation and support. Together we will provide a healthy and safe environment for all in our Campus.

Yours sincerely,
